Hey, I’m Tim MacLeod! I provide for a really cute little family of four with the simplest business you’ve ever seen—I buy used couches from people who need them picked up, and I sell them to people who need them delivered.
It started as a side hustle to replace my grueling overtime shifts. We were pregnant with #2 and I knew that working those doubles would lead to a mental health crisis for my wife. So, with a borrowed trailer, I spent my evenings on the road with my girls hunting for profit instead.
I fully replaced my nursing income within the first month. I dropped to part-time, then casual, and when the pandemic sapped all the joy out of the gig, I took the leap of faith into full time self employment.
I’ve had a lot of success flipping couches, and so have my students. But furniture resale isn’t for everyone. It’s specific to my skills, tools and market demand.
